Ssshhh… Trade Secrets on How To Buy the Correct Brake Caliper

Brake calipers, and car parts in general, can be a nightmare to purchase if you are buying them online. The reason being that there can be multiple parts that can fit one model and mainly depend on which type of brake disc you have on your vehicle (the caliper needs to match the relevant disc). Sometimes, it’s not the case that there’s simply one brake caliper for a VW Passat for example – depending on the year, the VW Passat can have up to 3 different brake calipers that could fit.

So, here’s how to find the correct brake caliper for your car.

  1. Enter your vehicle reg in to the car reg look up on our Homepage
  2. Select the Brake Caliper category
  3. Filter by Front, Rear, Left (passenger side) or Right (driver side)
  4. Add the caliper to your basket and checkout

Simple. But what if multiple search results are appearing? To narrow it down:

  1. Click on ‘More Details’ for the different search results and look out for:
    1. The disc thickness and diameter; and
    2. Whether it’s for a solid or vented disc
  2. To find the correct brake thickness, diameter and disc type, please select the Brake Disc category and click on ‘More Details’ to find the correct disc specifications for your vehicle to match them up to the specifications in the Brake Caliper section.

You should be able to narrow down the caliper that you need based on this. If you’re still struggling to find the correct part, contact us by email ([email protected]) or by phone (01676 534 506) and we’ll help you find the correct part.
